Book a CBCA Notable author visit...I love visiting schools, community groups and book events to give readings and talks; and, from all reports, audiences get a kick out of it too!
The length and focus of visits can be tailored to your school or event's needs, but one thing that stays the same is my approach: easygoing, fun and engaging. Whether it's hunting for the bowerbird who steals my blue feather (onstage antics abound!) or hearing what it's like to be both an author and publisher of your own books (check out Wollemi Press) primary students of all stages get plenty of value from my sessions. From a simple book reading to discussing my inspiration for writing, navigating the publishing process or creative writing activities – I can make it work for your audience.

"I'm Pre-K teacher at Penrith Anglican College and was at your visit/presentation today. Thank you for coming. The kids really enjoyed it! We went back and looked up more info and videos of lyrebirds and the children did lovely drawings which we will paint tomorrow. I also wanted to say I absolutely loved your book. Such a beautiful story. And the pictures... oh my!"

"My class had the opportunity to participate in the Westwords Writer in Residence Program, led by Jodie McLeod. This was an incredible experience for my class; the chance to work with a real published author was very exciting, and the students were engaged in all of Jodie’s lessons as she shared creative writing insights, examples and exercises. At the end of the residency I witnessed a boost in confidence in students with their own writing abilities, and all were determined to develop their own sentences and stories using Jodie’s tips and tricks."

"Thank you once again for coming. We all enjoyed it so much, both students and teachers alike. You were so good with the students. They all loved it and were so engaged and inspired. We all learned a lot from you about nature, writing ideas and your method for writing a children’s picture book. It was also interesting to find out about your friendship with Eloise and how you went about your collaboration together."
